Lifedge’s Ultimate Playlist to Beat the Winter Blues!
Reading Time: ( Word Count: )

Winter blues got you down? Cheer up with these 15 songs hand-picked by our team!

As we near the end of February, it’s easy to feel like it’s been winter forever. The days are slowly getting longer, but we’re not quite there yet. If you’ve got a case of the winter blues, we’re with you!

That’s why we came up with an idea to cheer up our readers. We asked everyone on the team to send a few of their favorite pick-me-up songs, and we used them to make a playlist.

If this list seems a little eclectic, it’s because it isn’t perfectly curated to fit one “vibe.” These are just the real songs that make us smile! Or in my case, dance very poorly. I can’t speak for the others on that one.

A few more ideas to help you beat the winter blues

1. Get crafty

Is there a skill you’ve been wanting to learn? Or a craft you bought the supplies for a while ago and never got around to? Now is your chance! Take advantage of the time indoors to bring out your creative side.

2. Host a movie night

Pop some popcorn, break out the snacks, and get cozy! Hosting a movie night is a fun and relaxing way to spend a cold winter evening. Pick a movie you think the whole group will be interested in, and then discuss it together afterward. Bonus points if you make it a movie marathon!

3. Make a 2024 bucket list

Okay, it’s not the beginning of January anymore, but it’s still early in the year! Spend a quiet evening creating a bucket list for 2024. Be sure to include both big things (traveling overseas, getting a new job, moving) and small (making a new friend, starting a book club, trying 5 new foods, etc). Then, start checking things off! What goals can you get started on right now?

4. Visit a museum

There aren’t many activities you can do when the weather is crummy and you’re trying not to spend money. A lot of us are still financially recovering from the holidays and are working with a low budget, which is hard to do when you want to leave the house!

One great, inexpensive activity is going to a museum. Whether you prefer art, history, science, trains, nature, or something else, there’s a museum out there for you!

Many museums even have “free” days, which can be found on their websites. If these days don’t work for you, most local libraries offer some type of activity pass that grants you free admission to museums, public gardens, and historic sites. Every state has a different version of this, but if you’re in Michigan check out the Michigan Activity Pass website for eligible activities!

5. Catch up with a friend

Is there someone you’ve been meaning to call for what seems like forever? Take this opportunity to catch up with them. Nothing lifts your spirits like talking with someone you’ve been missing!

You can always talk about how you’re feeling, too. There’s no need to keep your winter blues a secret. And this time of year, the chances are good that they might be feeling a little low too, and could use a friend to chat with.

Most importantly, just remember that brighter days are coming! We’ll get through this together.
